Senior Thesis: A Scriptural Rosary Prayer Book
For my Senior Thesis project, I created a small handbound Scriptural Rosary Prayer Book. Inspired by the illustrations found in Illuminated manuscripts, I adorned the pages with scrolling floral borders which reflected the mysteries to be meditated on. Pink and cream carnations to symbolize Joy for the Joyful Mysteries, Bluebells, otherwise known as Our Lady's thimble, to symbolize the work done during Our Lord's ministry for the Luminous Mysteries, Red Roses to symbolize sorrow for the Sorrowful Mysteries, and white lilies for to symbolize joy and triumph for the Glorious Mysteries. In addition I created blue fleur de lies borders for the introduction pages, and a border with all of the flowers to adorn the pages with the prayers to be used at the beginning and end of Rosary regardless of which Mysteries you chose to meditate on. Gold leaf was added to the capitals on all the headings, to give a more sacred feel to the book. All scripture verses were carefully selected from the Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition.
