In the past few decades, women have striven to "free" themselves from the oppressive rules of the past, most noticeably through the sexual revolution. Hemlines have steadily risen, and designers are constantly pushing the boundary as to what is acceptable to wear. However, women have begun to reject the "anything goes" mentality of the modern world and thus many women, for personal or religious reasons, have embraced modest dressing.
